Olive Oil by The Artisanal Kitchen Elevates Home Cooking

by just luxe magazine

Anna Zoitas of The Artisanal Kitchen has just introduced Three Olives Olive Oil, made from 100 percent California olives.

A now 30-something entrepreneur, Anna grew up in New York City but spent her summers visiting her grandparents’ farm in Greece, where she got closer to the source of natural foods and artisan living. “With my siblings, we used to gather fresh eggs from the chickens, feed the sheep with a milk bottle, play with the rabbits and try to stay away from the smelly hogs. I learned to cook on an outdoor fire and use farm fresh ingredients.”

New! 100% California Estate Grown Three Olives Extra Virgin Olive Oil Offers Exquisite Variety, Aroma and Flavor, Recommended by Whom You Know

Being of Italian heritage, I consider olive oil to be part of my cultural heritage! I grew up tasting it ineverything from pasta dishes to omelets to dipping oil for bread, and have become quite a connoisseur. It was with great anticipation, then, that I sampled Three Olives Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Although 99% of the world’s olive oil comes from imported olives, this new product is made with 100% California olives. Created by young entrepreneur Anna Zoitas, this delightfully light and mellow olive oil is made from a blend of Arbequina, Arbosana, and Koroneiki olives. The comination of these three varietals provides a well-balanced blend of fruity, nutty, and slightly peppery flavors. I tasted it as an accompaniment to a crusty French baguette and was quite impressed with the complexity of flavor as well as how light and smooth it was. I’m looking forward to using it in many more dishes, and it will definitely have a permanent place in my pantry!

Review: Three Olives Olive Oil

Back in the days before I was married, I spent very little time in the kitchen. I just looked at olive oil as well, olive oil. It was a healthier way to cook a few things, of course, but I kind of figured that all olive oils were pretty much the same.

In reality, olive oils are a bit like fine wines – they all vary depending on the maker and the ingredients. I’ve begun to find myself having multiple types of olive oil in my kitchen now, and I decide which one I am using depending on what I am cooking! One of the things I have been paying more attention to though, is our “food footprint”. call it a silent protest if you will, but I am trying to pay more attention to where our food is grown or made. I look for made or grown in the USA so I can support folks like you and me, and make sure we have jobs. Many olive oils come from Italy and Greece, beautiful countries, and the heart of the olive growing business. 99% of the world’s olive oils come from imported fruit!

Regular readers know that I’m something of an olive oil geek. There are few things more fun for me to do than cozy up to an olive oil bar and taste different varieties from an assortment of countries.

But I’m a big fan of our California oils and a new one was sent to me by Anna Zoitas, the owner of The Artisanal Kitchen. I have to admit I was a skeptic. After all, she’s a New Yorker, but her oil is a combination of three olive varieties grown in California–hence the name Three Olives Olive Oil.
